Does anyone have any natural alternative to using disinfectant around the house?
Tina
Borax is a natural mineral compound which is an excellent dinfectant.

To disinfect floors use 1/2 cup borax, 1/4 cup vinegar and about 8 litres of hot water - just dissolve the borax in the water and vingar and apply using a mop or sponge. You coul dalso try adding a few drops of lavender essential oil which will not only add a lovely smell but lavender also has excellent antiseptic properties.

Borax can also be applied neat to damp surfaces but will need to be wiped clean as if can leave a residue on work surfaces.

Tea tree oil is also a great disinfecting oil and is particularly useful as a fungicide.

As you know, a whole range of cleaning products are pine scented but why not use the real thing. It can be added to any natural cleaning formula (see other threads) when its disinfecting properties are required. NOTE - use only in small amounts and keep out of the reach of children.
